  • Collision of two or more cars on the road, call the traffic police
  • Europrotocol registration
  • You hit someone else's car
  • Your car has been hit
  • Collision with an obstacle, exit into a ditch

The world is dynamic, the ability to move quickly is highly valued. In such conditions, it is difficult to exaggerate the role of the car. That is why more and more people want to pass on the license and purchase their own transport. The number of cars on the roads is growing, and accidents are increasing proportionally.

A rare driver can boast of the absence of an accident in his life. And if there are such lucky ones, then it is rather luck - they just have not yet met their "couple" on the road. In today's small world, accidents are more commonplace than exception.

Each of us should be prepared for unpleasant incidents on the road, but very often even legally savvy drivers lose their composure at the moment of a collision. This is a really intense stressful situation. Someone worries about their new "unbroken and unpainted" car. Others are afraid for the life and health of close relatives. Still others are madly in a hurry and nervous from any stop. All this leads to numerous errors after an accident.

At the same time, the circumstances are different. You can become the only participant in the incident, or you can assemble a "steam locomotive" from several brothers in misfortune.

Let's consider each type of accident separately and analyze how to proceed, and what actions are absolutely unacceptable in different cases.

Collision of two or more cars on the road, call the traffic police

This is probably the most common type of accidents. You never know what to expect from a stranger, and even more so from someone who is involved in an accident. He can be aggressive, inadequate, or just plain dishonorable. Before you get out of the car and enter into negotiations, make sure that no one is flying at you with their fists. If nothing threatens your life, let's get down to solving the problem:

  1. Pull yourself together. There is no need to be nervous, panic and enter into conflicts, everything has already happened. It remains only to correctly draw up the documents.
  2. Do not forget to immediately press the alarm button and at a distance of 15 meters in the city and 30 - on the highway, put up an emergency stop sign.
  3. Check for casualties. If so, call an ambulance immediately. In case of severe injuries to passengers, do not try to get them out of the car yourself, this will only harm.
  4. Examine the scene and vehicle carefully. Estimate the estimated damage. If you are sure that it is less than 50 thousand rubles, you can issue an accident according to the European protocol (we will talk about it later). In a collision of more than two cars or in the presence of victims, registration is possible only with the help of the traffic police. A car with a trailer, by the way, is considered as two vehicles, therefore, registration under the European protocol in this case is also impossible. If the culprit plans to use CASCO, then calling the inspector is mandatory.
  5. Do not leave the accident site under any circumstances. Yes, recently the traffic police has ordered to remove cars from busy highways and intersections after an accident, but before doing this, you need to fulfill the conditions below.
  6. Take measurements, draw up a detailed scheme, always with reference to the area (indicate the names of streets, the presence of signs and markings, large immovable objects).
  7. Call the traffic police. If there is no disagreement between the drivers, and the cars are on the move, then you may be offered to drive to the nearest traffic police post and register the incident there. If it was not possible to come to a consensus, or there are reasons why it is impossible to leave, then the employees will come themselves.
  8. Some drivers blindly trust the traffic police and do not intervene in the registration of the accident. This is fundamentally wrong. Traffic police officers are people too, and they can make mistakes.

    Try to convey your vision of the situation to the inspector as clearly as possible.
    Watch his actions carefully. The protocol must include:

    • the condition of the road surface;
    • the presence of traffic lights, signs and markings;
    • weather;
    • braking distances;
    • road features (if any);
    • the correct arrangement of objects.

    If you have objections to any of the points, do not sign the protocol. Naturally, you shouldn't sign any blank forms.

  9. After an accident, do not forget to contact the insurance company in time.

Europrotocol registration

Many drivers are afraid to file an accident according to the European protocol. This is not surprising, because when registering it, you can make mistakes, because of which the insurance company may quite reasonably refuse to pay. In fact, filling out the form is not difficult, but being in a stressful situation, people get lost and make mistakes from scratch.

To avoid this, insurance agents are advised to study the protocol form upon receipt, at home in a relaxed atmosphere.

  1. As already mentioned, for the execution of the European protocol, the basic requirements must be met: no more than two cars in an accident, the absence of injuries and disagreements among the drivers, the damage should not be more than 50 thousand rubles. For a person far from auto mechanics, it is difficult to correctly assess the damage. When examining damage, it would be a great mistake to calculate the amount of damage only for visible defects. After all, in a collision, internal parts could also be damaged.
  2. Draw the road accident diagram carefully. The most common problem for which insurance may not be issued is the absence of additional landmarks on the diagram. Drivers draw only cars, without marking any intersection lines, traffic lights, signs, or markings.
  3. Check the forms with each other, make sure that the information of one person does not contradict the explanations of the other.
  4. Be sure to sign your no-contention clause 18. If it is absent, there will be no payment.

You hit someone else's car

In narrow streets and tight parking lots, it can be very difficult to maneuver between parked cars. It is not always possible to avoid unplanned "contacts". And how you want in this case to pretend that nothing happened, and quickly get out of the accident scene, while no one sees. This error can cost you dear:

  1. After leaving the scene, you automatically sign yourself a protocol for deprivation of rights, in case of your detection. Any court will see in such actions an intent to avoid responsibility and will impose the most severe punishment.

  2. Try to find the owner of the damaged vehicle. Kick the wheel, the alarm may go off. If no one comes out, you don't have to wait for hours. Call the traffic police - they will help you figure out the owner and find his phone number.
  3. If the search did not bring success, call the State Traffic Inspectorate. In the courtyard or on a private territory, you need to call not to the traffic police, but to the district policeman - this is his area of responsibility.
  4. After completing the registration, take a couple of minutes and write a note for the victim. After all, he may not notice the damage. Describe the situation, leave your details and phone number. Place a note under the wiper or tape it to the glass.

Your car has been hit

The situation is directly proportional to the previous one. How often do you check your car before driving? This is the main mistake. There are times when the owners find traces of the accident only after a few days. Finding the culprit in this case will be almost impossible, because even the place of the collision is unknown. But if you are sure that your car was scratched exactly where it is now, then you can try to figure out the offender.

  • Look around for any other casualties. Look closely at the traces of paint, what color they are, at what level they are.
  • Take pictures of anything that could be associated with the accident.
  • Depending on the location, call the traffic police or district.
  • If an accident happened in the courtyard, it will not be superfluous to paste announcements on the entrance doors about the search for witnesses.

Collision with an obstacle, exit into a ditch

Most drivers do not consider it a serious accident if there is no second participant. But this is a big mistake. The only condition under which you do not need to file an accident is the absence of any damage (for example, with an easy exit into a ditch).

  1. If there is a collision with a road object (lamp post, bumpers, traffic lights, bridge supports), you must call the traffic police and pay for the damage. As in previous cases, hiding from the scene of the accident is fraught with loss of rights, if you prove your guilt.
  2. Large animals are also involved in road accidents. Some of them are protected by law. For example, if you hit a moose in the area of the warning sign, you will not only have to repair the car at your own expense, but also pay a decent fine for the crippled or killed animal.

In an accident, many drivers make mistakes not out of ignorance, but out of excitement. It is difficult to think correctly and clearly when you are in a stressful situation.

There is a very good advice - print out and put in the car an action plan for different types of accidents. We really hope that it will never be useful to you. But if a collision does occur, there will be a clear confidence that you will do everything right and will not forget anything. Have a good trip!
