In early 2016, the management of the Chinese auto concern Lifan Group announced the release of the new Lifan Myway crossover, the live premiere of which took place a few months later at the Beijing Auto Show. The main feature of the car was the presence of a seven-seater saloon, which allows the crossover to compete not only with compact vans, but also with more spacious minivans, which are rightfully considered the best solution for large families.
Official sales of the novelty in the Chinese market started in the summer of 2016, and the car reached the domestic market only in the fall of 2017. It should be noted right away that the crossover has no direct competitors in its price category, so we decided to prepare a detailed Lifan Myway 2017 review, in which we will try to reveal the main features, technical characteristics and configuration of the crossover.
Exterior Lifan Myway 2017
Lifan Myway 2017 received a nice, modern and rather brutal exterior, which is mostly in line with the latest trends in automotive design.
The front of the crossover is represented by a strict head optics, a hexagonal false radiator grille with a horizontal insert in the center, on which the name of the brand is engraved, as well as a powerful front bumper with a narrow air intake slot and fog lights spaced around the edges.
The profile of the novelty evokes conflicting feelings. On the one hand, it is powerful and stylish, and on the other, somewhat awkward, which is due to the frankly small wheels, discordant with the massive wheel arches.
Large side doors, a high sill line and a sloping roofline deserve special attention, making the crossover visually more sporty and assertive.
The huge stern of the Lifan Mayway received stylish shades of rear LED lights, a large tailgate with a neat spoiler and a laconic rear bumper with a pair of chrome-plated trapezoids imitating the pipes of the exhaust system. In general, the appearance of the car evokes extremely positive emotions, which is an undoubted advantage for a Chinese-made car.
Despite its impressive and somewhat formidable appearance, the crossover has a rather modest size:

- Width - 1.76 m;
- Height - 1.73 m;
- Wheel base length - 2.72 m.
The height of the ground clearance reaches 192 mm, which is enough for driving through country terrain and the city, with its high curbs, "speed bumps" and tram tracks. Also, one cannot fail to note the presence of minimal overhangs, which provide the car with a good geometric cross-country ability.
Lifan Myway 2017 allows you to choose one of eight body colors: black, silver, cherry, white, gray, brown, terracotta and aquamarine. A pleasant bonus is the presence of light-alloy wheels already in the basic configuration.
Interior Lifan Mayway 2017
The architecture of the front dashboard looks modern and attractive, but the quality of the materials used and the fit of the parts frankly disappointed, which is what many models of Chinese automakers still sin. In front of the driver there is a stylish and slightly truncated multifunction steering wheel, as well as a laconic dashboard, represented by two wells of analog dials and an LCD display of the on-board computer located between them. In the central part of the dashboard, a 7-inch monitor of the multimedia complex, a number of function keys and a cabin climate control unit were registered.
Salon Lifan Myway 2017 is made according to the "2 + 3 + 2" scheme, while the seats of the first and second rows can boast not only an ergonomic profile and moderately rigid padding, but also a sufficient amount of free space in all directions. But the third row of seats, which is expected, is only suitable for children of preschool and primary school age.
Between the seats of the first there is a small armrest and a pair of cupholders, which are indispensable during long journeys.
The volume of the trunk in the seven-seater version is frankly small and is equal to 295 liters, but the situation changes dramatically, one has only to fold the third and / or second and third row of seats. In the first case, the user will receive 1,038 liters of loading space, and in the second - an impressive 2,188 liters, which allows you to easily fit and transport a small refrigerator. A nice bonus was the presence of a full-fledged spare wheel, which the manufacturer decided to place under the bottom of the crossover.
Lifan Myway 2017 - specifications
Currently, Lifan Mayvey on the Russian market is represented exclusively by a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with distributed injection technology and a sixteen-valve timing. Such an engine is aggregated with a 5-level manual transmission and produces 125 horsepower and 161 Nm of maximum thrust available to the user at 4200-4400 rpm. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not announce the time required for the car to accelerate from 0 to 100, while the maximum declared speed is 160 km / h. Fuel consumption, as shown by the Lifan Myway 2017 test drive, in mixed driving mode is 7.6 liters for every hundred kilometers traveled.
In the future, the line of engines should also be supplemented with a 1.5-liter petrol engine with a capacity of 109 hp. and a maximum torque of 145 Nm available at 3500-4200 rpm. In addition, a 4-level automatic transmission is expected to appear, but Russian car owners cannot count on four-wheel drive, at least in the near future.
A new Mayway from Lifan was built on the basis of a rear-wheel drive "trolley" with a longitudinally located power unit. The front suspension of the independent type is represented by McPherson struts, and the rear - by a continuous axle on springs. Already in the basic version, the steering received an electric booster, and the deceleration system - disc "pancakes" of all four wheels, the work of which is facilitated by a whole complex of electronic assistants.
Oddly enough, the car has a fairly comfortable and energy-intensive suspension that can easily cope with not only medium, but also fairly large irregularities.
The soundproofing also deserves praise, which allows you to talk even at high speeds without raising your voice. But fans of active driving will be clearly disappointed, since each overtaking requires an accurate calculation. Hence, we conclude that Lifan Myway is designed for a calm and unhurried ride.
Security of the new Myway 2017
Gone are the days when Chinese cars did not have a sufficient level of safety, which is clearly demonstrated by the Lifan Myway crossover. A list of his security systems and assistants is presented:

Of course, there were some drawbacks inherent in most budget cars, but the low price does not allow them to be counted among the critical shortcomings.
