Renowned car manufacturer Jaguar refuses to introduce a new Self-Driving Assistance System, designed for fully autonomous driving in a car.

At first glance, the system is very interesting and convenient. But still, the British manufacturer refused to implement it for a reason. So, according to the chief engineer of the Jaguar XS model, this technology is not yet perfect in its work and, instead of helping, on the contrary, harm the driver and passengers.

As mentioned earlier, many manufacturers are planning to introduce a Self-Driving system that can drive a car autonomously from the driver. But such a system is designed only for certain conditions and a certain road. As it became clear, Self-Driving fails at the first collateral interference. Thus, the experts of the automobile manufacturer Jaguar, having tested the system in a real situation, concluded that the system is unusable in 98% of cases where the car is used.

Jaguar XS engineers gave an example of how cruise control technology works that fail in bad weather. Such collisions can only harm the driver if he really completely surrenders control of the car to the automation. Self-Driving technology can only drive the car at the level that is written in its memory. The real situation may differ far from the rules, so it is still better not to completely trust such auxiliary systems.

The most unpleasant situation for Jaguar engineers was "car forgetfulness", out of 5 tests, in 4 cases when driving on a straight road at high speed, and with a slowly moving car in front, Self-Driving refused to react to obstacles in front and did not slow down the car speed. Thus, we can say that the collision was inevitable in most cases.

Volvo and Mercedes began testing their systems in parallel with Jaguar, thereby confirming the errors in the system and its further refinement.

Self-Driving has been tested by several car manufacturers in different climatic conditions and in different seasons, thereby all confirmed that Self-Driving is an excellent assistance system for the driver, but it requires improvement, since the driver is the last one who makes an adequate decision in an unusual dangerous situation .Jaguar
