Initially, the 4th generation Lexus IS sedan was presented in a charged version of the F Sport. The basis for the new generation was the current platform, but slightly modernized. According to the manufacturer, the platform has become lighter and at the same time much stiffer, especially where the weight load is the most.
The suspension of the Lexus IS sedan itself has undergone modernization, many steel parts have been replaced with aluminum ones. At the same time, the elasticity of the parts did not get worse. According to available information, new springs are installed, which are lighter than the previous ones by 20%, and the anti-roll bars have decreased in weight by 17%. In addition to reducing weight, the Lexus IS manufacturer has applied new welding technologies and reinforced parts of the body. Despite such improvements, the dimensions of the sedan have practically remained the same.
Following the refinement of the platform, updates were made to both the exterior of the Lexus IS and the interior of the sedan. The sports sedan received a redesigned grille with a mesh design. Similar inserts appeared in the front air ducts of the sedan. As expected, the updates came to the front and rear optics, which have already become fully LED. For the top-end configurations of the Lexus IS 2021, there were also updates. The sedan has got branded 19 ″ BBS wheels designed specifically for this model. The interior of the new generation of the Lexus IS 2021 sedan has also been updated for the better, but with minimal modifications.
